Leadership overview
Guangmou is different from his senior brother Guangzhi. His childhood wish was to become a famous demon king in history.
However, contrary to his wishes, due to the love disciple being sent to the Guanyin Monastery to become a monk and the White Flower Snake Spirit being extremely worried, he feared this was a way for the love disciple to lure the Black Bear Spirit. Therefore, he ordered Guangmou to also become a monk.
Before leaving, the White Flower Snake Spirit warned Guangmou never to fall behind, especially Guangzhi. Despite Guangmou’s efforts, Elder Jinchu always favored Guangzhi more than him, even if Guangmou learned faster and practiced more. Guangmou considered this to be an unjust treatment, blaming the Great King for his unpopularity. He often comforted himself that he would return to the mountains to become a demon, so he didn’t care about these things.
Remembering the teachings from the old monk when he was young, Guangmou realized:
“You are too extreme in your actions, everything should leave some meaningfulness unfulfilled.” However, when he saw the brocade cassock that day, the old monk’s desire overwhelmed him and he completely forgot these words.
He cried until midnight, and Guangmou had already realized that the old monk was considering killing for treasure. Everyone else avoided the subject, but the straightforward Guangzhi spoke up.
Feeling a nameless anger in his heart, Guangmou decided to make a living out of schemes. When the old monk and the two disciples were drinking tea, he observed that the monkey’s eyes were full of unbridled hostility, indicating that he was one to seek revenge. Following Guangzhi’s suggestion, Guangmou helped escalate the situation, using a ruthless strategy with no room for mercy. The old man was pleased for the first time, appreciating Guangmou’s talent. After presenting the strategy, Guangmou predicted that a disaster would occur that night, so he created a whirlwind to escape into the bamboo forest behind the mountain. Sure enough, that night a huge fire broke out, not only did it not burn the monks seeking the scriptures to death, but it also burned down the monastery. It turns out that there are such despicable people in the world, drawing noble people into their schemes and causing their downfall with a clever ploy, perhaps what people commonly refer to as using others to achieve their goals.
